One such version was developed in Hollywood, California with the help of Sammy Hagar. It features a solid body and two humbucker pickups. There is a standard Yamaha neck and the bridge pickup is a Seymore Duncan JB. There are separate volume controls as well as a rosewood fretboard with a Cabo Wabo on the 12th fret.

Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit has also helped to develop a Signature Series Yamaha guitar. While in his earlier years in the recording industry he had an official endorsement with Ibanez, they soon asked him to modify one of his guitars so they could market it which ended the relationship. Through his collaboration with Yamaha he was able to design his own guitar from the ground up which became a Signature Series.

There are also several lines of Signature Series basses such as one poduced with the help of Billy Sheehan. Sheehan is known for his work with such names as David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and Steve Vai. This particular design features a body composed of alder and a neck made of maple. It has 21 frets and Hip Shot detuners. It also comes complete with 2 DiMarzio pickups. Each one of them has their very own output. Since Sheehan prefers bolt-on necks, this particular line does not make use of a through-neck design.

Michael Anthony from Van Halen also has his own Signature Series bass. It uses the neck-through design which is commonplace on the BB series only it has been streamlined. The body too has been smoothed out and features deeper cutaways then the standard models. For pickups, this bass uses an Alinco Split single coil, an Alinco V Soapbar and HipShot detuners.

Even Nathan East who is known for his work with names like Eric Clapton, Phil Collins as well as Stevie Wonder has his own Yamaha Signature Series which is a five-sting design with a double cutaway body made of both maple and alder. It comes with a 24 fret neck composed of maple and mahogny as well as two stacked Alinco humbucker pickups. There is also a bridge pickup that has individual saddles to allow for a better inotation. There are better ways to go than “starter kits”
I have a Yamaha RBX170 electric bass guitar, which is basically just a slightly better version of the guitar that comes with the ERB070 bass guitar “starter kit”. I’ve always been impressed with Yamaha’s quality, and these lower-end bass guitars don’t disappoint.

However, I’d recommend going with the RBX170 bass, and save the rest of your money and pick up a decent amp. For the same amount of money, I got a slightly better Yamaha guitar (with a better agathis body, better pickups, and with more choice of colors), and an amp that is better than just a practice amp.

GREAT STARTER PACKAGE FOR THE MONEY
Just received my Yamaha bass pack in good order. I really knew nothing about this particular package – all I knew is that all of the other packages out in the market (except for the pricier Ibanez unit)were junk. This package offered alot of value for the money. I was counting on Yamaha’s reputation for quality ,and – for the most part, it doesn’t disappoint. The guitar looks & feels good, lightweight but not junky. It plays super easily (although I had to adjust the action a bit), and it sounds nice – a very decent rock bass that has an edgy sound.

The little practice amp is even better than I imagined – solid, quality feel. Of course, you’ll never be able to play a gig with the amp (unless it’s with acoustic guitars) but what do you expect? The little electronic tuner works great, the cable is junky , and the strap is OK. This package even includes an extra set of strings,a string winder and a Hal Leonard instructional booklet. These are extras the other packages don’t inlcude.

For the money, the next best package next to the Ibanez set.

Pretty good
I got this guitar for Christmas in 2003. I have played with it virtually nonstop (with a break for like half a year when my teacher died) and now I am back. I know a lot of songs. The guitar is great, and sounds great, for begginer. Unfortunately my tremolo bar messed up the inside so I can’t use it anymore, but I don’t mind too much. Plus the amp sucks, especially when using pedals or playing live. It’s all right for home practice though. If this is your first guitar, go for it! If not, look into something more advanced.

This guitar is a great guitar I still use it. It has a very good sound and looks really cool. I love this guitar and have never thought about getting a knew electric guitar. It also comes with a small but very loud and great sounding amp. I would suggest you buy a tuner because it goes out of tune every once in a while. But other than that it is a very good guitar.

Big chips lead to big frowns
The guitar sounded find but they made almost no atempt to fix big paint chips in the finish. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! This was a restored guitar? I think they forgot to restore this one!

Nice Guitar
This is a very nice guitar.It is good for kids who are switching from acustic to electric like I am.It is also pretty good if you are beginning because it comes whith a book of songs but it is not that good so you rather just get a teacher.It is very fun to play on and has good sound for someone who dosent perform in a band or something.If you do then I reccomend you get a little more expensive guitar.The only negative is that the anp broke one week after I got it.But amazon was good and sent me a new amp for free very fast.Overall its a great guitar.I highly reccomend it.

Incredible Price/Performance
I’ve been playing steel string and electrics for the past 20 years so I’m not new to this..but I wanted to try a little classical. I wanted something decent but inexpensive incase I don’t like the classical style too much so based on reviews I decided to buy the C40 Gigmaker pack. I also played a few other classical guitars in this price range at my local guitar center for comparison.

First thing I noticed was that the build quality was quite superior for a product in this price range. The finish was excellent and the fretboard was absolutely even with no flaws. However, when I first played the thing I was very disappointed because it sounded aweful! Luckily I knew what the problem was… the strings that come with this guitar are absolutely horrendous. Yamaha totally skimped on the strings which is rather odd! I knew this due to feedback from others and had also ordered some D’Addario Pro Arte classical strings. After restringing the guitar with the D’Addarios the difference was night and day. A word of caution: restringing a classical is a pain, unlike steel strings nylon strings need to be “stretched in” so they may lose tuning until they are fully stretched.

I’ve been playing some simple classical pieces that I knew how to play on my steel string (Romance, Aria etc.) and it sounds pretty damn good. I’m really impressed at the quality of tone from a guitar in this price range. Some people complained about the cheapness of the tuners. I don’t see any issues with them, they work just fine.

The bottom line is that if you’re looking for an entry level classical guitar you cannot do any better than the C40.

It’s good quality, well designed with mahogany wood, and a reasonable price.

Good guitar
It is a very nice looking guitar. Very impressive on first looks. It sounded pretty good and the nylon guitar strings were very good on the fingers. The only problem was that three of the strings were nylon and three were metallic. That means you have spare some time to change all of them to the ones you like.

Unbelievable quality at an unbelievable price
When I was 15 years old I bought this same or similar Yamaha Classical Guitar model. It was one I bought used from a friend’s guitar teacher. I loved that guitar. Never did I have a single complaint about it. And I had it with me everywhere I went until I was almost 40 years old.

My son was an avid electric guitar player who wanted to give acoustic a try. Since I didn’t have time to play my guitar during that time of my life I LENT my guitar to him. When I eventually had more free time and wanted to get back into my music I asked my son to please return my guitar, the one I let him BORROW. It was at that time he informed me that he SOLD it to a buddy when he needed money buy a Fender bass. Kids…

So…I bought this one and am very happy to have a Yamaha Classical Guitar back in my possession. The only differences I can see between my old one and this one are the colors and design around the sound hole and the absence of Yamaha on the headstock. To be sure this was the brand of classical guitar I wanted, I tried several different brands and models available on Amazon.com at local guitar stores.

Every other brand of classical guitar, regardless of the price, did not hold up to the sound of the Yamaha guitars. I’m not saying the other brands did not sound good. What I’m saying is the Yamahas sounded great. Should I ever decide to upgrade to a better classical guitar, I will stay with Yamaha.

I could not find a lower price for this model than the Amazon.com price…anywhere. Having the Free Shipping option was a major plus.

There is only one reason I needed to call the Yamaha Customer Support Line. I needed to ask where the serial number is located. I couldn’t find it to save my life. On the C40, look inside the sound hole to the inside edge of the fretboard.

My guitar was wrapped very well for shipping. It came with “The Yamaha Guitar Quickstart DVD.” The DVD has some very useful information to help you get started if you have no idea what to do with your guitar once you take it out of the box. A “Welcome” sheet with some good basics for beginners was also included.

It is so good to have another Yamaha Classsical Guitar back in my life.
